South Shore Line seeks public opinion on proposed New Carlisle station

NEW CARLISLE, Ind. -- The South Shore Line announced it has launched a public survey on a proposed New Carlisle station after a 2019 study that explored its feasibility.

Officials say that study determined that a station was feasible, and it would generate sufficient ridership.

An update on the study was done in 2024 to re-evaluate the station site and account for regional growth, South Shore Line changes, and new ridership trends.

Officials say a public meeting to discuss the feasibility study and proposed stations was then held on Jan. 29.

Items discussed and shown at that meeting are available on the South Shore Line website.

The short survey aims to help the team decide if a new station could benefit New Carlisle’s transportation network.

South Shore officials say the responses are confidential and will only be used to assess the new station's feasibility.

You can take the survey here.

The deadline to respond is March 14.
