South Shore Line’s track project will upgrade Lincoln Way West crossing

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Upgrades to the Lincoln Way West crossing have been announced with work beginning May 3.

Lincoln Way West (U.S. 20) will be closed at the railroad tracks where the road meets N. Bendix Drive, which may affect traffic.

The track project will include re-paving approximately eight feet on both sides of the rail.

The work is expected to wrap up on Friday, May 17.

The project will close traffic in both directions on Lincoln Way West (U.S. 20) on the east side of Bendix. A portion of Bendix Drive and Lincoln Way (U.S. 20) will remain open.

A truck detour will be available from Mayflower Road to Western Avenue (S.R. 2) to Chapin Street (Charles Martin Sr. Drive).

A local detour will utilize Ardmore Trail.
