Benton Harbor Area Schools cancel classes Friday following lockdown
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Community School Corporation confirmed on Friday that no students at Jackson Middle School will be allowed to participate in athletics for three weeks due to student behavior.
"There is currently a three-week suspension from athletic competition. Participating in sports is a privilege, not a right, and this suspension serves as a disciplinary reset because students have not been meeting the standards expected of Jackson Middle School student-athletes," SBCSC officials said. "During this three-week period, students are still able to participate in team study halls, team conditioning and other training activities. We are also offering additional enrichment activities and will engage students in restorative practices."
