SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Some South Bend residents are expressing their excitement about Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States on Monday. Coney Barrett is the first South Bend native to sit on the nation's highest court.
"I think it’s exciting and I think that she’s a great choice," said Heather Robermayer, who lives in South Bend.
Coney Barrett's confirmation comes just 8 months after former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg won the Democratic Iowa Caucuses.
"I think it’s great for the city," said Robermayer. "We’ve had some rough times in the last year but I think the exposure we’re getting, good or bad, is good for the city."
Coney Barrett is just the second person from Indiana to serve on the Supreme Court, joining Sherman Minton who served from 1949-1956.
