South Bend Police arrest man on attempted murder warrant for 2020 shooting

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- South Bend police have arrested 23-year-old Chosen Alexander on an attempted murder charge for a 2020 shooting in South Bend.

They say they arrested Alexander during a proactive policing effort in which they made several other arrests on various charges, mostly drug related.

The arrest of Alexander came during a traffic stop in the area of Chapin and Jefferson.

Alexander's warrant included charges of battery by means of a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

Police say he is also facing a new preliminary charge of unlawful possession of a firearm that stems from the traffic stop.

Two others in the vehicle with him were arrested and charged with assisting a criminal and possession of marijuana.
