South Bend man sentenced to 16 years in prison for meth charge

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of Indiana announced 35-year-old Martel Scott, of South Bend, was sentenced after pleading guilty to distribution of 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine.

Scott was sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.

Documents in the case state Scott sold methamphetamine to buyers in South Bend and Mishawaka on four occasions from July 2024 to October 2024.

The day he was arrested, investigators say they found approximately five pounds of methamphetamine in his residence and currency exceeding $200,000 in his storage unit.
