South Bend man sentenced to 14 years for possessing with intent to distribute meth

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A South Bend man was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.

Lamonte Powell, 52, of South Bend, was sentenced to 14 years in prison followed by four years of supervised release.

Law enforcement bought narcotics from Powell on two occasions, according to case documents.

In May 2021, law enforcement found more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm, and cash during a search of Powell’s home.
