Dirty Roots Pantry fights against period poverty in Michiana

ELKHART, Ind. -- One local Michiana woman is working to end period poverty in the Elkhart area. Lisa Morgan created "Dirty Roots Pantry," an at home barrier free pantry, filled with food, and hygiene goods.

In a matter of days, she quickly noticed the need in this area for a resource like this. One of the first things she saw was how quickly the period products were leaving the shelves of her pantry.

A non-profit called United State of Women cites that 16.9 million people that use menstrual products in the U.S.  are living in poverty.

Morgan's goal is to end period poverty locally, and in just a couple weeks her spaces have grown after getting a lot of interactions on social media posts.
