Shooting leaves one injured, businesses damaged in downtown South Bend Sunday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Police Department is investigating reports of a shooting in downtown South Bend early Sunday morning that left one person with non-life-threatening injuries and several businesses vandalized by gunfire.
At 4:30 a.m., a South Bend officer advised they were in the downtown area when they heard several gun shots, reports said.
During this time, calls came in about shots fired in the area of Colfax Avenue and Main Street.
While officers were on scene, a gunshot victim walked into a local hospital.
The individual was struck in the lower body and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Additional reports have been made about several businesses that were vandalized by gunfire. It is believed that this damage is a result of this one incident.
The South Bend Police Shooting Response Team has taken over this ongoing investigation.
