Severe storms still possible Tuesday

NOW: Severe storms still possible Tuesday

ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather ForecastMonday, February 26, 2024

This evening will stay warm, with temperatures falling through the 60s into the lower to middle 50s overnight. There could be a few scattered thunderstorms early Tuesday morning, but they should be done by the time the commute is over. Some storms could have some hail up to an inch in diameter. Morning storms will not stop temperatures from getting to near 70 degrees, likely breaking record highs by Tuesday afternoon.

The main weather focus continues to be Tuesday afternoon and evening, when strong to severe thunderstorms are possible. Michiana looks to be in the bullseye of potential storm development after 4 pm, when large hail, damaging winds and even a few tornadoes are possible. Then another line of storms will move through late Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning. This line will usher in a dramatic temperature change, as afternoon temperatures will likely not make it out of the 20s on Wednesday. Rain and snow showers will change over to just snow showers late in the morning on Wednesday, and snow could accumulate on some colder or grassy surfaces. All precipitation should end by Wednesday evening, and the weather looks calmer to end the work week. High temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s Thursday and Friday before a return to 60-degree weather this weekend.

Tonight: Becoming mostly cloudy. Isolated thunderstorms with hail are possible late. Low 54.

Tomorrow: PM thunderstorms. Severe weather possible. Near-record warmth. High 71.

Wednesday: Rain changing to snow showers. MUCH colder. High 36.

Thursday: Sunny and calmer. High 42.
