SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Senator Mike Braun continued his 92 County Tour, where he visits every county in Indiana, as he visited South Bend on Wednesday, August 23.
Sen. Braun's annual exposure to each Indiana county has given him insight to what needs to improve.
"I get a great cross section," said Braun speaking about what's he's learned from the people in each county he's visited. "There are about 50 counties who are trying to find their next act."
He aims to help rural communities and address rural broadband, which President Biden and the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced $700 million in grants to connect thousands of rural residents, farmers and business owner to high-speed Internet through the ReConnect Program.
"If you're in the rural counties, we need more of that," Braun said. "If you're going to get some of these places to start stemming population flow in the wrong direction and getting kids to move back to their own hometowns."
