BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety announced Pipestone Street from Britain Avenue to Division Street is closed due to construction activities.

The work is part of the city's Pipestone Area Sewer Project and is expected to be completed by June 27.

City officials said, "The goal is to complete the work at the Britain intersection as quickly as possible and bring the surface up to a passable gravel level until the permanent pavement surface can be installed at a later date."

A detour has been put in place for the duration of the work. The Detour route includes Broadway, Empire Avenue, M-139 Southbound, and M-139 Northbound.

Motorists should expect delays.
