Saturday could be warmest October gameday ever at Notre Dame Stadium

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- When the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take the field on Oct. 4 at Notre Dame Stadium, it will already be a historic event.
When the Irish host the Boise State Broncos in the game, it will be the first meeting between the two schools, and the first time Notre Dame Football will play a school from Idaho.
However, the weather could try to share in the history.
Typically, in early October, fans can expect the leaves to be changing colors and fall-like conditions.
Surprisingly, the ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Team is forecasting a high temperature of 87 for Saturday in South Bend. If temperatures eclipse 85 degrees, it will make it the warmest October gameday ever at Notre Dame Stadium.
Both the Oct. 9, 2010, game against Pitt and the Oct. 2, 1971, game against Michigan State had high temperatures of 85 degrees on gameday. Notre Dame won both of those games.
In fact, Notre Dame is 6-3 at home when temperatures are at 80 degrees or above in October.
The last "hot October" game Notre Dame lost was Oct. 3, 1992, against Stanford. Weirdly, two out of the three losses Notre Dame has suffered in "hot October" conditions have come against the Stanford Cardinal.
The other was a loss to Purdue on Oct. 13, 1956.
If you are tailgating or attending the game, make sure to stay hydrated and use sunscreen.
By next weekend for the game against North Carolina State, temperatures should cool down significantly into the 60s for kickoff.
