Saint Mary’s College will become a tobacco free campus
NOTRE DAME – Saint Mary’s College has announced that it will become a tobacco free campus starting Thursday, November 19th. The policy goes into effect the same day as the Great American Smokeout.
This policy means that any form of tobacco is prohibited on campus, from smoking to vaping to snuff.
“Saint Mary’s College has a responsibility to establish policies that positively affect the health and well-being of all students, faculty, staff, vendors, volunteers, and visitors,” said President Katie Conboy.
The college received a grant from the Truth Initiative to aid in this effort.
While students and staff do not have to quit, the campus will make resources available to those that want to.
The Great American Smokeout is an annual opportunity for people to quit using tobacco and was created by the American Cancer Society.
