Ryan’s Place: a home to heal the wounds of grief opens its doors

GOSHEN, Ind. — Ryan’s Place, a Goshen based organization providing grief support for children, teens, and family, opened the doors to its new 18,000 square foot facility with a groundbreaking Wed. afternoon.

Hundreds of community members showed up to the new location, 1566 Regent St. in Goshen, in support of the 23-year journey that led Ryan’s Place to this new beginning.

With a $6.3 million budget due to generous donors and a supportive community, Aileac Deegan, the CEO for Ryan’s Place, said they were able to create a dream facility featuring many unique rooms for both support group meetings and physical or play therapy.

“Grief touches us all, you know, and there are all sorts of types of grief… When they’re here… they know this is safe, it’s okay to talk about it and…there’s multiple ways that they could do it, it’s not just sitting, because children can’t talk for a long time… that’s why we do a lot of play therapy,” said Deegan.
