Cassopolis seniors celebrated after football season ends early
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- In this week’s Under the Lights, the South Bend Washington Panthers took on cross-town rival, the Riley Wildcats at School Field, the home of the Panthers.
The Wildcats ended up taking the win 27-20, but the Panthers made quite the comeback in the fourth quarter.
The game started with Riley scoring the first touchdown in less than four minutes into the first quarter with a fumble recovery by number 15, Muri Jackson.
Then, the Wildcats scored another touchdown in a quarterback sneak, bringing the score to 14-0 going into halftime.
Although Washington played good defense in the third quarter, Riley made another touchdown but missed the extra point. Then, they scored another touchdown with just two minutes left in the third, putting the score at 27-0 heading into the last quarter.
The Panthers made a comeback in the fourth, scoring their first touchdown just seconds in, by number one Naesaen Ward. They scored two more touchdowns by number three, Jaydon Lineberry, bringing the score to 27-20 halfway through the fourth, but that’s where the score stayed.
The Wildcats officially winning 27-20 when the game came to a close.
