River Valley School District superintendent resigns on first day of school

River Valley School District: Dave Campbell

THREE OAKS, Mich. -- River Valley School District Superintendent Dave Campbell announced his resignation from the position on Monday in a letter sent to district families.

Campbell was originally hired at interim superintendent in August 2023.

In his resignation letter, Campbell states in part, "It has been a privilege to work with the Board, parents, staff, and students to continually improve our school district. My family and I are grateful for this opportunity, but now we must embrace a new stage in our life as it is time to focus more energy on our aging families and pursue other opportunities."

Along with Campbell's resignation letter came a separate letter from the district regarding next steps. Brian Brown will take over as interim superintendent.

The River Valley School District Board of Education states in part, "The Board is committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless leadership transition. To provide continuity and maintain the positive momentum of the district, we are pleased to announce that Brian Brown has agreed to serve as Interim Superintendent during the transition period."
