Repaving of northbound US-31 in Berrien County to start Monday

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.- The project to repave 12 miles of northbound US-31 in Berrien County begins Monday, April 17.

The project's estimated completion date is Nov. 3, 2023, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

The repaving will start at US-12 between Niles and Buchanan and stretch to M-139 in Berrien Springs.

MDOT anticipates lane closures and shifting traffic patterns, along with intermittent ramp closures and corresponding detours.

The repaving project will include improvements to concrete curbs and gutters, culverts, drainage, guardrails, fencing, signage and pavement markings.

According to MDOT, the $32.9-million dollar project will support almost 400 jobs.
