Potawatomi Zoo SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Potawatomi Zoo shared some sad news on their Facebook page that they have humanely euthanized one of their beloved bobcats, Mary Jo. She lived to be 19 years old, well surpassing her species lifespan of 5-15 years, thanks to the amazing care provided to her at the zoo.
Mary Jo was rescued by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator after losing her mother to a hunter when she was less than a year old. In 2007, she moved to the Potawatomi Zoo.
They say Mary Jo enjoyed fishing for live fish and crayfish in the bobcat pond, and when she was younger, she would chase tennis balls!
