CHICAGO -- South Bend received quite the shoutout on the big stage at night three of the Democratic National Convention as former South Bend Mayor and current U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg took the stage.

Buttigieg spoke about finding belonging growing up in Indiana, and how that led him into an unlikely career, from serving Indiana and Washington, and serving in uniform in Afghanistan.

When referencing back to the normal family at the kitchen table, where politics should divide, Buttigieg states that he craves the right kind of politics, that's empowering, uplifting, and brave. He stated he sees that in the Harris-Walz campaign.

"We get to choose our President. We get to choose our policies, but most of all, we will choose a better politics, a politics that calls us to our better selves and offers us a better every day. That is what Kamala Harris and Tim Walz represents. That is what Democrats represent. That is what awaits us when America decides to end Trump's politics of darkness once and for all," states Buttigieg.

Governor Walz then formally accepted his nomination to be the Vice-Presidential Candidate for the November election.

Walz spoke about his real lack of political experience before serving in congress, with his background as a teacher and state championship coach.

Highlighting his work as Governor, cutting tax for the middle class, fighting crime and affordable housing, and wiping medical debt.

That work Walz said, is work that him and Vice President are ready to implement at the national level to better the country.

"We're all here tonight for one beautiful, simple reason. We love this country.
So, thank you to all of you here in Chicago and all of you watching at home tonight. Thank you for your passion. Thank you for your determination. And most of all, thank you for bringing the joy to this fight," stated Governor Walz.

Walz finished his speech, making the plea for voters over the next 76 days, and doing a call back with the audience that they will fight.
