Rain and sleet makes messy morning mix

MISHAWAKA, Ind – Morning rain turned to sleet Friday, causing a messy mix for drivers across Michiana.
Steady light rain rolled through the area for hours, but turned to sleet around 4 a.m.
A thin later of the gritty mix coated the roads, and later melted, leading to a slushy buildup.
Plows were out salting the roads throughout the morning, but some slide-offs were reported on U.S. 20 and the Toll Road.
The system is expected to bring snow into Michiana later Friday morning.
