SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Preliminary proceedings for the lawsuit brought by the family of Eric Logan against the city of South Bend and Sgt. Ryan O'Neill begin Thursday. Logan was killed by O'Neill on June 16th.
South Bend Police say Logan was caught looking into cars on William Street early on June 16th. O'Neill confronted Logan and claims Logan came after him with a knife.
O'Neill then shot and killed Logan. O'Neill's body camera and dash camera were not on during the interaction.
A special prosecutor was called in to investigate the case. Logan's family is seeking financial compensation.
The proceedings begin at 11 a.m. and ABC 57 will have a reporter in the courtroom for the proceedings.
