NOW: Uncommitted delegates continue to protest DNC on final night

CHICAGO -- A collection of the Democratic Party's 36 uncommitted delegates began a sit-in demonstration just outside United Center last night during the Democratic National Convention.

Those delegates were calling for a Palestinian to be added to the list of speakers tonight. Upon that request being denied, a sit-in demonstration was held.

The group's core goals are an immediate ceasefire and ending U.S. military aid to Israel, but delegates are still staged outside United Center Thursday night with the support of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and multiple members of congress.

Congresswoman Cori Bush of Missouri joined the uncommitted delegation this afternoon, comparing today's uncommitted movement to the Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd.

In the same way that galvanized voters, Congresswoman Bush said this moment could sway key battleground states.

“We have to look at how do we make it clear that the Harris-Walz campaign will have this? We do that by listening to the people with the majority of voters that say that they want to cease fire," Bush said. "The majority of voters in the country want that to happen. When Palestinian-Americans are saying, let us have a voice, let us have a voice before the people it’s a simple ask, but the thing is it’s a simple ask, but the effects of rejecting that will be tremendous."

Thursday morning, the Harris-Walz Communications Director said this situation doesn't mean they are taking the uncommitted vote for granted.
