DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- Current Mayor Donald Lyons is running up against Patrick Bakeman for the 2025 Mayoral election in Dowagiac.
Lyons was first elected Mayor in 1997 and has held his seat ever since. This may be his last year running in efforts to create a smooth transition to a new mayor next term.
Lyon's says the biggest problem the city is facing is lack of funding, but he plans to try and get grants to combat those issues.
Patrick Bakeman has been in the city council for eight years. He plans to reverse population and business decline by promoting the city's strengths through supporting local workforce, creating a proactive business development plan, and highlighting the current quality of life to attract new businesses and support current business owners in the city.
