Present Pillars to host Expungement Resource Fair at Lake Michigan College
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Present Pillars is set to host an Expungement Resource Fair on Oct. 12, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, located at 1100 Yore Avenue, Benton Harbor, Mich.
This event aims to provide essential support and resources for individuals seeking to expunge Michigan-based convictions.
Expungement is a vital legal process that allows individuals to remove certain criminal records from public view, offering a fresh start and improving access to employment, housing, and other opportunities.
“Expungement is more than just a legal procedure, it’s a pathway to a brighter future for families and communities,” said James Gunter, Executive Director at Present Pillars.
The fair is a collaborative effort with partners including Legal Aid of Western Michigan, Berrien Community Foundation, Safe & Just Michigan, Lake Michigan College, and the Michigan Department of Attorney General. These organizations are committed to helping individuals clear their records and regain control of their lives.
Pre-registration is recommended, and volunteer attorneys, notaries, and registration assistance will be available.
