Potawatomi Zoo shines through the rain at Zoo Luminate Lantern Festival premiere
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Potawatomi Zoo kicked off night one of its 10-week Zoo Luminate Lantern Festival Wed. evening.
More than 60 life-sized lit-up lantern displays are scattered along more than a mile long trail that wraps throughout the park.
The festival was made possible because the zoo teamed up with the largest Chinese lantern festival producer in North America, Tianyu Arts & Culture, Inc., bringing the event to South Bend for the first time.
“Tianyu specializes in producing kind of Asian themed lantern festivals and they’ve been phenomenal to work with. You really have to come out and see their product in person,” said the director of guest experience Kyle Etheridge.
Zoo Luminate will be open Wednesday through Sunday each week, 6-10 p.m., through May 25, just in time for the regular zoo season, which opens on March 28.
