ELKHART, Ind. -- Customers reported seeing mice, piles of droppings, and chewed through bags of food while shopping at the Kroger on Hively Avenue in Elkhart.
Mouse traps and piles of droppings were caught on film in store aisles and customers posted pictures of bags of food completely chewed through.
Some customers were completely scared off by the sight of mouse droppings.
"My cousin was like 'Oh no, we're going to leave' and she just left the stuff in the cart and we left," said Kroger customer Holly White.
Others decided to shop with caution despite the reported infestation.
"I've just been a little bit more cautious with things we pick up, especially perishable items," said frequent shopper Monica King.
The Elkhart County Health Department said that it is aware of the situation and is working with Kroger to fix the issue but the store remains open.
