Deputies: Elkhart convenience store robbery turns into shootout with clerk

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is investigating an armed robbery of a 7-11 that ended in gunfire.
It happened just before 11:45 p.m. Monday at the 7-Eleven on the 25000 block of County Road 20.
Deputies say one suspect walked in with a gun. They say a second suspect then walked in and the two men began taking money from the cash register and cigarettes from behind the counter.
Police say as the suspects were leaving, they exchanged gunfire with the clerk.
The suspects are described as black males in their early 20s wearing ski masks. They were approximately 5'11" tall and approximately 15 pounds.
