Plymouth man killed in crash on US 30

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind., --- The LaPorte County Sherrif's Office is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Plymouth man on US 30 Friday afternoon.

Officials were called out to the intersection of US 30 and SR 39 on Friday just before 3:30 pm for a two-vehicle crash.

They say a blue Honda driven by 39-year-old Brent Freyenberger was traveling west on US 30 when he disregarded a red light and
was struck by a semi-truck traveling south on SR 39.

Freyenberger died at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, 27-year-old Kody Hansen sustained an upper body injury.

Two unrelated witnesses at the scene of the accident told officials Freyenberger disregarded the red light and collided with the CMV.

The toxicology report is pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
