Drier but cooler weather returns for Wednesday
For the past 8 seasons former Notre Dame player Peter Schivarelli has shown his support for the university's band program by donating shirts, jackets and backpacks to members of the band.
Usually, the players and Head Coach Brian Kelly present the players with their gear.
Because of COVID-19, Coach Kelly and Quarterback Ian Book recorded a special message to show their appreciation for the band.
While the presentation of the gear has changed, the sentiment stays the same. Schivarelli says he thinks this year, the band will be more important than ever.
"I think this year, they're going to realize they're more significant. They're always significant, but I think this year, it's going to be accelerated," Schivarelli said.
The Notre Dame marching band will not be performing a halftime show this year, but they will be in the stands.
Even though Schivarelli is normally on the sidelines at Notre Dame games, this year he'll be watching from his seasonal home in South Bend.
Schivarelli is also known for managing the band Chicago.
