VAN BUREN COUNTY, Ind. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office's local Child Safety of America program is $1,060 richer thanks to a recent donation from the Paw Paw-Lawton Masonic Lodge No. 25.

On Feb. 11, the local lodge presented a check for $1060.00 to Child Safety of America, Inc. to help provide "furnish preventative child safety materials to school age children by means of programs conducted by local law enforcement departments and schools."

Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott was on hand to receive the check.

“I cannot thank the Paw Paw-Lawton Lodge No.25 enough for contributing to our program.," Abbott said. "This program has been huge in our community being able to reach so many of our children. Without people like the Mason’s contributing, this would not be possible. The children in our community are our future, so anytime we can make a positive influence in their lives, it’s huge. A program like this does just that."
