Passenger airlifted with serious injuries following off-road vehicle crash

MENTONE, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Natural Resources reports conservation officers are currently investigating an off-road vehicle crash which occurred in Kosciusko County on Saturday.
The report states around 6:46 p.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of South Mill Road in Mentone for a crash involving a dirt bike and an ORV.
Officers arrived to find that a dirt bike, ridden by a 24-year-old man, had collided with an ORV, operated by a 30-year-old man with a passenger identified as a 28-year-old woman.
Authorities say the woman was thrown from the ORV and sustained serious injuries.
The woman was air-lifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with head and internal injuries.
The 24-year-old man was taken to a hospital in Warsaw with a leg injury.
Officers say no one involved in the crash was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
