Homicide investigation into death of South Bend woman found lying in grass
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – There is an ongoing death investigation that took place on 925 E. Fairview, on the morning of Sept. 13. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Catherine Minix.
At approximately 5:19 a.m., an anonymous call was received at the communications center, asking for police to check an address in the 900 block of East Fairview for a woman needing help, said Metro Homicide. South Bend police officers responded to the scene, and arrived finding a female lying dead in the grass between two homes.
County Metro Homicide Unit said they determined the deceased woman had suffered physical trauma.
No details regarding her injuries will be released at this time until the autopsy is completed tomorrow morning.
The crime scene investigation is currently being conducted at the victim’s home, in the 900 block of E. Victoria St., and the immediate area where she was found, said CMHU.
CMHU said they are currently interviewing persons known to the victim and have developed a person of interest in this homicide investigation. No arrests have been made.
