'One Good Night for One Good Deed Michiana' fundraises at O'Rourke's
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Tonight was 'One Good Night for One Good Deed Michiana', a fundraiser event featuring three local bands, as the community packed O'Rourke's Public House to support the cause.
ABC57's own Allison Hayes created 'One Good Deed Michiana', whose motto is 'Helping those who help others because one good deed can change a life," recognizing those who go out of their way to help others in need.
Hayes started the non-profit as a way to give back to the community, who surrounded her family, after their own tragedy and experience with grief.
"That's exactly why we started it. Because we what we found was that we had so many people come in and want to be there for us and help us, but by allowing them to do that, it was helping them through their own grieving process, and we started to see that it wasn't just people doing it for us. There are people doing that for so many people in our community, and those little good deeds, we say our motto is helping those who help others, because one good deed can change a life," stated Hayes.
Every dollar raised during the event tonight goes right back into the local community.
