One dead in motorcycle crash in La Grange County
LA GRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – One person has died following a motorcycle crash in La Grange County on Monday, the La Grange County Sheriff’s Office announced.
At 2:20 p.m., deputies were called to the 9400 block of W 700 S in Topeka.
According to reports, the driver of a red 2002 Kawasaki VN8 motorcycle was traveling west on 700 S, near S.R. 5, when he hit a pothole in the road, causing him to leave the road and lose control of the bike.
The driver then fell from the motorcycle.
Another motorcyclist, operating a teal 2004 Harley Davidson XL8, was behind the Kawasaki and hit the same pothole.
The driver of the Harley Davidson also lost control and hit the driver of the Harley Davidson after he fell off the bike.
The driver of the Kawasaki, identified as 18-year-old Joshua Schwartz, received injuries to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver of the Harley Davidson was injured but refused treatment at the hospital.
The motorcyclists were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, reports said.
