One dead after crash in La Porte County

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – One person has died following a crash between two vehicles in La Porte County on Tuesday morning, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 6:46 a.m., deputies were called to S.R. 2 and C.R. 600 East for reports of a crash between two vehicles.

A black 2020 Kenworth semi-tractor pulling a flatbed trailer was traveling north on C.R. 600 East.

After stopping at the stop sign, the Kenworth began to cross the eastbound lanes of S.R. 2 to turn left and travel westbound.

A blue 2014 GMC pickup truck was traveling east on S.R. 2 when it collided with the flatbed trailer in the eastbound lanes of S.R. 2, deputies said.

The driver of the GMC, identified as 22-year-old Barbara Stanish of Rolling Prairie, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kenworth was not injured in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
