One arrested in connection with shooting at Elkhart’s River Run Apartments

ELKHART, Ind. - One person was arrested in connection with one of two shootings that took place at the River Run Apartments in Elkhart on Wednesday, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

Tyrese Jackson, 19, was arrested on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness with a firearm. He is accused of firing shots at a vehicle with people inside.

When police responded to the first shooting, which happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night, they found an 18-year-old with gunshot wounds inside one of the apartment’s buildings.

Though Jackson was arrested in connection with the first shooting, he wasn’t arrested in connection with the 18-year-old's injuries specifically.

While officers were investigating the first shooting, dispatch got a call about a second shooting nearby, just after 11 p.m.

In that shooting, a 26-year-old man was injured.

The victims of both shootings were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The 18-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the 26-year-old suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
