SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It was all smiles at Darden Elementary in South Bend Friday morning when the Notre Dame Leprechaun made a surprise visit to the students to talk about the importance of reading.
School administrators said the goal is get their students to read 30 minutes a day when they go home.
Their theme for this year's reading campaign was "I'm growing great!"
As a reward for student who read 30 minutes a day, they will get to fill out leaves that go on vines that will be placed all around the school.
