SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Brock Sheahan spoke with the media for the first time Wednesday since being hired as head coach of the Notre Dame hockey team.
Sheahan is taking over for long-time coach Jeff Jackson, who brought the Irish to multiple NCAA Championships and a few Frozen Four appearances in his 20 years as leader of the team.
Sheahan hopes to bring the Irish back to their winning ways, as Notre Dame hasn't registered a season over .500 since the 2021-2022 campaign.
Sheahan was previously a volunteer coach for the Irish from 2013-2014 and coached in several other leagues, including at the professional level, before returning to the Irish as the teams' Associate Head Coach two years ago.
He notes that training is actively underway with four days-a-week in the weight room and "compete" days on Thursdays.
