Notre Dame- It is a record year for research at the University of Notre Dame.
The University has set a new record for funding with $138.1 million in research funding. More than half of that money is through federal funding, 26.9% is from foundations and sponsors and another 15.3% came from industry.
Notre Dame also set a record for funding in June with $27.6 million.
In 2017, approximately 75% of external research funds will go towards the local community, like the Notre Dame Turbomachinery Laboratory in Downtown South Bend.
Funding over the last ten years has more than doubled. The University made $71 million in 2006.
The previous record was $133.7 million set in 2015.
