SOUTH BEND, Ind. –– COVID-19 forced Notre Dame Football to cancel the majority of its spring practices, which normally play a part in the team gelling prior to the actual start of the season. As summer workouts approach with no end in sight for the coronavirus, Notre Dame has begun exploring alternatives to the season opener in the case the pandemic continues.
Coach Brian Kelly said in a Zoom press conference with media he still hopes to play the game overseas, but the team needs to be ready in the scenario that it is unsafe.
"We're looking at all options at this time. We'd like to play the game in Ireland, whether we can or not that is still obviously a topic being discussed," Kelly said.
