THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- Three Rivers high school hosted the semi-state championship between Niles and South Christian high school.
After getting stopped just short of a touchdown, Niles's Talen Bennett handed the ball off to Paul Hess who bulldozed his way through the defense to push the Niles lead even further; making the score 44-14 with 7 minutes left in the third quarter.
South Christian's Carson Vis threw the ball down south to an open Owen Burgess who walked it in for a touchdown. This closed the gap, changing the score to 46-20.
On the next Niles possession, Paul Hess runs the ball towards first down but fumbled the ball. It was recovered by South Christian with just 3 minutes left in the third.
Niles brought it back with Samuel Rucker who is handed the ball and ran for 20-yards and is stopped by the combined efforts of South Christian's Shane Barber and Guy Torres.
The final score of the semi-state game was Niles 62 to 30 South Christian.
