Nike designs a new Protro sneaker in honor of Kobe Bryant

Nike pays homage to legendary basketball player, Kobe Bryant, by unveiling their new design in his name--the Kobe 8 Protro Halo.

Nike worked with Vanessa Bryant to design a sneaker in honor of Kobe's birthday each year.

Keeping with the same identify as the Kobe 8, launched in 2012, the Kobe 8 Protro is designed for performance innovation. 

The Lunarlon midsole, as used in previous Protros, is replaced with a Nike react foam for comfort and responsiveness. 

Aesthetics-wise, in honor of the "Black Mamba" on the court, an embroidered white Mamba logo is on the tongue and embossed by the toe and sole. 

An embroidered white Nike swoop is on top of light weight knit herringbone pattern and Kobe's signature is embossed at the heel. 

The Nike Kobe 8 Protro Halo releases on NIke's app SNKRS and select global retailers on Monday, August 28. You'll need to download the app to purchase.
