ELKHART, Ind. -- At approximately 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, the members of Osolo EMS were dispatched for a reported drowning in the St. Joseph River at the Six-Span Bridge on C.R. 17. 

When units arrived on scene, they found the patient under one of the bridge spans, conscious and breathing.

Osolo Fire deployed rescue swimmers who made contact with the patient.

A member of the public who let Osolo Fire utilize their personal canoe and proceeded to load the patient into the canoe and back to shore.

No additional victims were found.

Elkhart Firefighters Local 338, Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, and Indiana DNR Division of Law Enforcement assisted on this rescue.
