ELKHART, Ind. -- The intersection at Jackson Boulevard and Johnson Street is the busiest in the city of Elkhart.
A newly installed traffic system at the intersection is expected to decrease the number of backups in the area and make it a safer location for drivers.
The city says more than 35,000 drivers use that intersection every day.
The system, called “Wavetronix” utilizes radar to help determine the best flow of traffic, and can adjust lights in real-time, while also collecting data for future changes.
The city hopes that the program can be installed in similar locations throughout the city.
