New lawsuit filed against charter bus driver with alleged OWI on school field trip

Elkhart County Jail ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A new lawsuit has been filed against the man who was accused of driving a charter bus drunk while taking high school students on a field trip to Grand Rapids in 2024.
The lawsuit is against the accused man, John Schmidt, as well as Berea Transport, LLC. The lawsuit alleges that Schmidt Operated a vehicle While Intoxicated and drove erratically while taking the NorthWood High School students to Grand Rapids.
