ELKHART, Ind. -- Local Republicans are hearing from a former Navy Seal who on the team that killed Osama bin Laden.
Will Chesney was the keynote speaker at the Elkhart County GOP Lincoln Day dinner. He was one of the Seals that raided bin Laden's compound in 2011. When asked about what he remembers most about the experience, he said the following:
"How it brought America back together again. When 9/11 happened, we obviously came together as a country, and we maybe started to get divided again. So when we get back from the mission and they turned on the news for us that night, it was really cool to see the country kinda comeback together again. I wish it would have lasted longer."
This specific Lincoln Day dinner was, in part, a celebration of our nation's 250 years.
