Motorcyclist dead following crash at C.R. 800 E. and C.R. 50 S.

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The Starke County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of C.R. 800 E. and C.R. 50 S. around 8:02 a.m. Friday for a crash involving a motor vehicle and motorcycle.

Authorities' initial investigation determined a 2024 Dodge Durango, driven by 75-year-old Linda Caudill of North Judson, was traveling north on C.R. 800 E.

Caudill then entered the intersection of C.R. 800 E. and C.R. 50 S. when she was struck by a blue Suzuki motorcycle, driven by 20-year-old Derrick Shepherd of Knox.

Deputies say Shepherd was traveling east on C.R. 50 S. when he struck the driver side of Caudill's vehicle.

Shepherd was pronounced dead at the scene.

Caudill was taken to a local hospital for her injuries.

Authorities say there is an ongoing investigation into the events that led to the crash.
