Mike Braun to end minority and women's contracting preferences for Indiana businesses

Indiana Governor Mike Braun

INDIANAPOLIS -- On Wednesday, Indiana Governor Mike Braun announced the state would end "race- and sex-based contracting preferences" and install a merit-based approach in their place.

This decision comes after Attorney General Todd Rokita released a legal opinion on Wednesday which found the Minority and Women's Business Enterprises' contracting preferences unconstitutional.

No date has yet been announced for when this merit-based approach would be introduced or when the race- and sex-based contracting preferences would end.
