UPDATE: The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office reports officers with the St. Joseph County Police Department responded to the intersection of Elm and Layton Roads around 7:04 p.m. Wednesday for a crash involving a pickup truck and motorcycle.

The initial investigation determined a motorcycle, operated by 21-year-old Kyle Richard Coleman of Osceola, was traveling south on Elm Road when a pickup truck, driven by 34-year-old Steven Michael Mink of South Bend, turned left onto Layton Road in front of Coleman.

Coleman was taken to the hospital, with what were initially reported to be life-threatening injuries.

Mink was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.

ORIGINAL STORY: ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County police responded to a motorcycle crash on Elm Road and Layton Road in Madison Township.  The call came in at approximately 7:03 p.m. The road reopened at 9:33 p.m.
